Gold Indian Head Eagle

Available in three denominations, $10, $5, and $2.50, Gold Indian Head Eagles feature a portrait of a Native American on their obverse and a “standing” American eagle on their reverse.

The $10 Gold Indian Head Eagle was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, however, it would end up being the second and final coin he ever designed because he passed away from cancer prior to its release. President Roosevelt tasked Bela Lyon Pratt with designing the $5 and $2.50 Indian Head Eagles after Saint-Gauden’s passing.
